Should You Verify Your Facebook Page?

There are 2 major benefits when you verify your Facebook page:
- It builds trust with your audience.
A page verification badge gives your page credibility. It ensures that visitors know your page is legitimate, important and authentic. Considering how hard we work to achieve this…a definite benefit!
- Your Facebook page will rank higher in search results.
To get verification, Facebook has to review your page. This means your page is more likely to show up in searches. With so much competition, our page doesn’t always show up in searches. We want to get into as many newsfeeds as possible, which increases the likelihood of engagement – so this is a definite benefit…we all want this don’t we?
Once verified your page is awarded a symbol next to your name. There are 2 types of symbols: a blue badge, awarded to public figures with large audiences (celebrities, sportspeople etc.) and a gray badge, for local businesses with valid addresses – like us!
So how do you verify your Facebook page?
There are 2 ways:
- Go to your Page and open your Settings
- Go to Page Verification (should be near the top) and click on edit.
- Click on Verify Your Page.
- Enter your business phone number in the text box and click on Call Me Now. OR
- Click Verify this Page with Documents. If you choose this option then you will need to upload an official document with your business name and address on it – I used a scan of my ASIC Business Registration Certificate to verify my page.
Note: I found it easier to verify my page with documents. I use my mobile for business and personal calls so couldn’t use it for verification. If you don’t succeed with the Call me Now option, use the Verify with Documents one. You’ll have more success.
It takes a couple of days for Facebook to get back to you with a Verification Badge. They’ll review your page along with the documentation you sent, then automatically award the badge to your page.
That’s all it takes!
A Verification Badge adds a layer of professionalism and importance to your business Facebook page. It only takes a couple of minutes to set up. Why not do it now?
